Bhavana is the Co-Founder and Principal Architect of Kumar La Noce, an Indo-Italian architecture practice based in Bengaluru, India, with a presence in Cagliari, Italy. Founded in 2013 alongside Italian architect-urbanist Nicola La Noce, the studio has built a distinctive body of work spanning residential, educational, and commercial projects, alongside art installations, urban design, furniture, and objects. Bhavana holds a B.Arch from RVCE, Bengaluru (2008) and an MA in Housing and Urbanism from the Architectural Association, London, one of the world's most rigorous architecture schools. Before founding Kumar La Noce, she worked in Ahmedabad and Alibaug, gaining experience across varied scales and typologies. She is also a recipient of the Gurukul Scholarship from SPICMACAY to study art and philosophy at the Dalai Lama's Monastery, an experience that speaks to the depth of cultural inquiry she brings to her practice. Kumar La Noce operates from a philosophy of typological reasoning: creating spaces that are evocative yet pragmatic, rooted in culture and collective memory. Completed projects span a wide range, restaurants for the Crowne Plaza in Bengaluru, a boutique resort in Kerala, and a Learning Complex for a music school in Kalkeri Village, Dharwad. The last reflects the studio's particular investment in educational and community-centred design. The studio's work has received significant national recognition. In 2016, Kumar La Noce was selected as one of 10 'Outstanding' young practices by the IIA Karnataka Chapter, with work exhibited at the 10x10 Praxis Exhibition in Bengaluru. In 2017, the studio was named a winner of 'Young Designers 17' by Indian Architect & Builder. In 2019, it received the Forbes India Design Award, a mark of distinction for design excellence in India. Bhavana is a compelling voice on architecture as a cultural practice, the intersection of design and community memory, and the realities of building a creative studio in India.
